Tales Of The Cocktail: Day 1

Three of our very own spirit connoisseurs are in the The Big Easy this week for a festival of cocktails, cuisine and culture. We wanted in on some of the fun too, so we’ve asked them to share with us the best things they drink, eat and learn each day. Here’s what we’re hearing about day one at Tales of The Cocktail…

Best Thing I Drank

Stephanie (Astor Wines & Spirits Buyer & Sales Staff Manager)
“Amartinez at Arnaud’s French 75 – Plymouth gin, Amer Bienville (Arnaud’s house made amari), maraschino liqueur, and orange bitters

Best Thing I Ate

Jenn (General Manager of Astor Center)
“Head on Gulf Shrimp on Grits with Andouille at Cafe Atchafalaya- Sweet and salty”

Best Thing I Learned

Dan (Astor Wines & Spirits Vice-President & Spirits Consultant)
“The first definitive book on Del Maguey Mezcal is in the works. I had the chance to speak with the writer who said he will be doing field work at all of Ron Cooper’s palenques (distilleries) to better understand where the culture and history of mezcal comes from.”

Stay tuned for more tales from the festival!
