Winter Wines on Sale
Cristobal “Malbec-Rosé” – 2023 $7.96 for a limited time
This beautifully colored Rosè is one for all seasons. It’s a mild-mannered wine that’s light and dry with red berries on the nose. Just think, in Argentina where this Malbec hails from, folks are sitting back enjoying this juice right now during their summer months. So, I say, let’s join them and send a toast to the Argentineans that have done this Malbec right. – Archie Archuleta, Astor Wines & Spirits Consultant
Bodegas Lagarde, “Teia”, Malbec & Petit Verdot, Mendoza – 2022 $11.96 for a limited time
Such a delicious, everyday wine! It has a lot of aroma and complex flavor components and at the same time it’s smooth and easy to drink. On the nose, you can notice ripe red fruit. On the palate, the Malbec grape gives rich, fruity notes. The Petit Verdot grape adds smoothness and a bit of earthy notes. Tannins and acidity are well balanced together. For its smooth structure it’s a good food partner; you can pair it with red meat, burgers or simply with pasta. We always talk of comfort food. Experiencing this wine, we can definitely talk of comfort wine at a very reasonable price! – Andrea Fraccari, Astor Wines & Spirits Consultant
Xión Tinto, Bodegas y Viñedos Attis – 2019 $14.96 for a limited time
With the price of Cru Beaujolais going up and up, here is a nice option. I have always loved the reds from Rías Baixas, when I can find them, but they are usually more expensive than you would expect. Here is a great choice that’s bright and fresh with nice mineral acidity but fun and easy as well. – Josh Mizrahi, Sales Manager
Zweigelt “Kieselstein,” Claus Preisinger – 2021 $16.97 for a limited time
Claus Preisinger has honed his skills around the world, working in vineyards in California, before returning to his Austrian roots to work for Anita and Hans Nittnaus. His “Kieselstein” Zweigelt is one of the most immediately enjoyable wines that I have had the opportunity to drink as of late. Blackberries, blueberries, savory herbs, and great acidity all refresh the tongue. Its dark-purple-and-blue hue is in contrast to its sheer drinkable pleasure. – Vince Grace, Assistant Buyer
Ch. Peybonhomme-Les-Tours, Le Blanc Bonhomme – 2021 $19.96 for a limited time
Chateau Peybonhomme has to be amongst the top of the world list of quality to price ratio. Here’s a wine made from a 50-50 blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Out of the glass, it has a nice golden color and an olive oil viscosity. It smells of roasted pineapple, apples, and a tinge of pine. The mouthfeel has weight and slickness and a brisk acidity appears mid palate. – Chung Park, Astor Wines & Spirits Consultant
