Blanco Tequila is not often seen as a spirit for cold weather. However, with a few simple modifiers, courtesy of jet-setting bartender Marshall Altier, it can work great in an Old Fashioned cocktail.
Typically an Old Fashioned is a stirred cocktail made with whisk(e)y, sugar, and bitters, but any base spirit can be combined with a sweetener and a bitter to make a fantastic (and seasonally appropriate) cocktail. In this recipe, Dos Manos Blanco Tequila is combined with apple brandy (from the oldest distillery in theUSA: Laird’s, founded in 1780 inScobeyville,NJ), two different bitters, and a rich Demerara sugar syrup.
