Sparkling Wines For Every Occasion

From white to red, from sweet to dry, there is a vast world of sparkling wines out there. Astor Center instructor Tess Rose Lampert shares some of her favorite bottles. Watch the video above and branch out with your bubbly this New Year’s Eve!

Franciacorta Saten, Bellavista – 2009
This 100% Chardonnay Franciacorta is made in a limited quantities using small barral technique. Very delicate and elegant and great with raw fish or any salads. Refined bubbles and concentrated floral and mineral flavor.

Vouvray Brut, Ch. Greffe – NV
Superb value, a pretty box… what more do you want? Dry and crisp, effervescent white peach and pear tickles the taste buds and finishes with Meyer lemon freshness. The ample body pairs well with smoked salmon, French charcuterie, classic blanquette de veau, or even an apricot tarte tatin.

Lambrusco di Sorbara Red, Zucchi – NV
A frizzante that’s dry with firm acidity and aromas of fresh raspberries and violets. This is quite different from the inky, dark Lambrusco most people are used to. The fruit is redder and the texture far more delicate. The name “Lambrusco” actually refers to a large family of grapes, much like Moscato or Pinot. This Lambrusco di Sorbara will evolve for years to come.
