Christian Drouin Pommeaux de Normandie $19.96
What is Pommeaux? It’s an apple brandy made in the Calvados region of Normandy. It tastes like an earthy, fresh-baked apple pie sweetened only with fresh-pressed cider. Sip it after dinner. Give some to Grandma! Pass it around for some holiday cheer! – EG

Chablis Grand Cru “Bougros” Piuze – 2015 $79.96
This is an ultra fine Chablis from the esteemed Patrick Piuze. While we drink it all year-round, it does wonders as one of our Christmas wines. Structured and mineral, it’s a perfect accompaniment to all the dishes on a holiday table, or can be cellared for 15-20 years. – CP

Ch. Guiraud 1er Cru Sauternes – 2003 $39.96
A sweet sip is necessary over the holidays. Even better if it’s the most famous sweet wine in the world. This Sauternes is dense and honey-dominant and another favorite of our Christmas wines. – MB

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Sirio – 2016 $8.96
It’s pretty thrilling to open a special bottle you’ve been saving for the holidays. However, if you’re hosting extended family and expect walk-in neighbors, you need to have Christmas wines that aren’t not too precious but still delivers on flavor and quality. Pick up a case of Sirio Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Spicy, aromatic wood and wild forest bolster deep red fruit that turns silky on the tongue. Dry, tannic, and ready for holiday fare. Be gentle on your wallet after shelling out for an extra turkey and a real tree. – SS

Barrell Bourbon Full Proof Astor Barrel $114.96
Looking to treat the Bourbon lover in your life to a smart gift? Barrell Bourbon is produced by an up-and-coming merchant who buys outstanding barrels from distilleries and blends them to create unique, high-quality spirits. ABV runs a bit higher than some, making for great cocktails or nuanced sipping. – BR

Hidalgo, Manzanilla “La Gitana en Rama” Sherry $29.96
You don’t need to splurge on Parterre box seats to indulge the operaphiles on your holiday shopping list. Take the potable route. While Isolde and Juliette were sipping poison, Carmen opted for Manzanilla. This savory, complex expression from Bodegas Hidalgo makes the perfect aperitivo, or plays a knock-out comprimario to boquerones and charcuterie. Plus, this en rama sherry is unfined and unfiltered, just like Carmencita. – TG

Glenfarclas Astor Family Cask Scotch Whisky – 1989 $249.96
The perfect gift for the whiskey drinker who has everything. Glenfarclas is a family-owned distillery that makes classic Speyside single malt that’s rich and complex without being esoteric. This entire cask was bottled for us at Astor, so you’ll be giving something truly exclusive. I just hope your recipient is generous with a taste. – JM
