The abundance of beautiful produce in farmer’s markets and greenmarkets always inspires new ideas on how to make the most of seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs. Here at Astor, our minds (obviously) wandered to cocktails! The greenmarket is an excellent place to dream up new twists on old favorites, or totally innovative concoctions. And since the selection is always changing, it’s a great way to constantly evolve your home bar repertoire.
When crafting custom cocktails, there are no rules. We wandered around for a while just picking up things that caught our eye. Just make sure you take home enough for a couple of practice runs so you can perfect your greenmarket cocktail (and then enjoy a couple!).
Sour Cherry & Cardamom Margarita
6-7 Sour Cherries
3/4 oz Cardamom Syrup
1 oz Lime Juice
1 1/2 oz Reposado Tequila
Salt & Cardamom Rim
Optional Mezcal Float
Rim rocks glass with salt and cardamom mixture. Muddle the cherries with the cardamom syrup. Add the lime juice, tequila and then ice. Shake, and strain into rocks glass. Add mezcal float and garnish with cherry. Enjoy!
